Structure The Florida Bar Exam has two components: the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) and the Florida Portion. The MBE consists of 200 multiple choice questions which test specific points of law in the areas of Constitutional Law, Evidence, Torts, Contracts and Sales, Real Property, and Criminal Law and Procedure. The Florida Portion consists of 3 essays and 110 multiple choice questions (only 100 of which count towards your score). The essays test a candidate's ability to spot relevant issues and apply appropriate principles of law. The questions are taken from the areas of Administration of Estates, Business Entities including Corporations & Partnerships, Criminal Law, Contracts & Sales, Evidence, Family Law, Federal Constitutional Law, Florida Constitutional Law, Florida Rules of Civil & Criminal Procedure, Real Property, Torts, Trusts, Wills, and Chapters 4 & 5 of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar.
Scoring The Exam is scored by using the equi-percentile method to combine the Multistate and State scores. A high score on one portion can offset a lower score on the other.  Effective July 1, 2004 the overall passing score is 136.
MPRE Required; a scaled score of 80 is passing. The MPRE must be passed within 25 months of the date the Florida Bar Exam is passed.
