Foreign Trained Attorneys ("FTA") Eligibility:

We receive many requests for information from Attorneys who were educated outside of the United States asking about their eligibility to take the US Bar Exams. We cannot answer those questions; only the bar examiners of the specific states can make determinations of eligibility, often on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the bar examiners directly for a determination of your eligibility to take the exam.

At present, the only three states we service that consider all FTA's to take the bar exam are New York, California and Texas. Some graduates of Puerto Rico may take the Florida Exam. Our understanding is that FTA's may NOT sit for the bar exams of Florida, Georgia or New Jersey, or for the Multistate Bar Exam by itself, other than as noted above.

Once you have received a determination of eligibility, please contact us about our course for that exam.

You should also note that FTA's MUST take the full bar exam, not a shorter form such as a "state-only" or "Attorney" exam. California applicants MAY be required to take the First Year Exam in addition to the general bar exam at a later date. The California examiners will let you know if this is necessary.

For FTA's who are already qualified to take the bar exam, there are a few things to be aware of:

• We service students from around the world with our Homestudy course. Because of time zone differences, many of our foreign attorney students choose our materials-only option. You may select a traditional telephone mentored course or our new Premium Mentoring Service but you will have to be able to speak with us by telephone during our normal office hours to use these services. We have recently added a written critique service as an option. To order this new service, select the Materials Only Course Option and Add Email Mentoring from the Special Options Menu from our Online Order Form.
• There is a $150 shipping and handling fee for all shipments outside of the U.S.  In addition, you are responsible for customs and duty. Note that while we ship via Express Mail, customs in your country may hold shipments for several days or longer. You should plan on some delay between ordering and receipt of materials.
•  You may now order any course as an ONLINE course and save shipping and customs fees! Click here for details.
• The course is rigorous, but does NOT require previous knowledge of United States law. If you are fluent in English, you will need about 200 hours of study for most exams. No additional materials are necessary, but you should allow ample time for your studies. If English is not your first language, you should plan on 250-350 hours of study before taking the bar exam.
• Finally, if you order and receive our course, and later find you are unable to take the exam or enter the US for the exam for any reason, there are no refunds for tuition. This policy exists because of our limited enrollment capacity and is non-negotiable. In other words, please do not order the course unless you intend to take the bar exam or are willing to forego your tuition if you are denied the opportunity to take the exam.

"Passing the New York Bar exam with Celebration Bar Exam Review after a disastrous first try with one of the "big names" in bar review was a wonderful experience from day 1 till the end.
