Structure The Georgia Bar Exam has two components: the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) and the Georgia Portion. The MBE consists of 200 multiple-choice questions that test specific points of law in the areas of Constitutional Law, Evidence, Torts, Contracts and Sales, Real Property, and Criminal Law and Procedure. The Georgia Portion consists of four 45-minute essays and two 90-minute Performance tests. The essays test a candidate's ability to spot relevant issues and apply appropriate principles of law. The questions are taken from the areas of Agency and Partnership/Corporations (now called Business Organizations), Code of Professional Responsibility, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law & Procedure, Evidence, Federal Practice & Procedure, Georgia Practice & Procedure, Real Property, Non-monetary Remedies, Torts, Trusts, Wills & Administration of Estates, UCC Articles 2, 3 & 9, and Family Law.

The two Performance Tests are designed to test a candidate's ability to competently perform real-life tasks of a new lawyer.

Persons who have been a member of another bar for at least one year are eligible to sit for the Georgia Attorney's Exam, which consists solely of the Georgia portion of the exam.

Scoring Minimum MBE score of 115 is required to have essays and PT graded. Georgia and MBE scores are scaled and combined. A total score of 270 is required to pass.
